Swansea University Covid-19 Response Fund

£78,504 raised

345 donors

Swansea University has played a key role in the response to Covid-19, with help of our fantastic Swansea community. Since the outbreak began, we have successfully funded several unique and globally collaborated research projects into the pandemic, helped our own students in their time of need and supported our front-line workers by providing additional PPE and hand sanitiser.

Donations to the Covid-19 response fund will help us to provide the most supportive and caring environment possible for our students, from those suffering financially to those whose families and friends have been directly affected by the outbreak. By boosting the funding available to our hardship and wellbeing services, we will be ideally positioned to support our students as fully as possible both now and in the concerning future. The University has dramatically increased its contribution in this area and received tremendous support from alumni and friends, but the unprecedented demand on the service continues to outpace what we are able to provide.

The kindness and compassion that we value in our Swansea University community could not have been more important than in recent months. The money raised so far has enabled us support many of our students - many of whom are still feeling the negative financial impact of Covid-19.

“The bursaries and additional funds have allowed me to save a deposit for somewhere to rent as I’m moving soon to start my new career. This has meant I have not had to worry about homelessness after university finished, which for me was a massive, massive worry."

Your support has ensured that the bursary provision for students who are care leavers and for those who are carers has increased for 2020/21, and our newly introduced Estranged Student Bursary is providing much needed financial support to students who are irreconcilably estranged from their families.

While we recognise and appreciate that many of you will have been affected by the crisis, we hope that you will support us if you are able to. If you're not in a position to donate, you can still help us by sharing this page on social media and with your friends and family so that we can reach as many people as we can.

We’d like to say a special thank you to all those who have shown such generosity supporting our students.

- We are hugely grateful for your support!

Mae Prifysgol Abertawe wedi chwarae rôl allweddol wrth ymateb i COVID-19 gyda chymorth ein cymuned anhygoel yn Abertawe. Ers i’r achosion ddechrau, rydyn ni wedi ariannu’n llwyddiannus nifer o brosiectau ymchwil unigryw i’r pandemig ar lefel y Brifysgol ac yna mewn cydweithrediad â sefydliadau yn fyd-eang. Rydyn ni hefyd wedi helpu ein myfyrwyr ar adeg pan roedd ei angen arnyn nhw yn ogystal â chefnogi ein gweithwyr rheng flaen drwy ddarparu cyfarpar diogelu personol (PPE) a diheintyddion ar gyfer y dwylo.

Bydd rhoddion i gronfa ymateb i Covid-19 yn ein helpu i ddarparu’r amodau mwyaf cefnogol a gofalgar ag sy’n bosibl i’n myfyrwyr, gan gynnwys y sawl sy’n dioddef yn ariannol a’r rheiny y mae’r achosion wedi effeithio’n uniongyrchol ar eu teuluoedd a’u ffrindiau. Drwy ychwanegu at yr arian sydd ar gael i’n gwasanaethau caledi a lles, byddwn ni mewn sefyllfa ddelfrydol i gefnogi ein myfyrwyr gorau y gallwn ni rhwng nawr a’r dyfodol sy’n destun pryder. Mae’r Brifysgol wedi cynyddu ei chyfraniad yn y maes hwn yn sylweddol ac mae wedi derbyn cefnogaeth aruthrol gan gyn-fyfyrwyr a chyfeillion, ond mae’r galw ar y gwasanaeth na welwyd mo’i debyg o’r blaen yn parhau i fod yn fwy na’r hyn rydyn ni’n gallu’i roi.

Ni allai’r caredigrwydd na’r ewyllys da yr ydyn ni’n ei drysori yn ein cymuned yma ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe fod wedi bod yn bwysicach nag yn ystod y misoedd diwethaf. Mae’r arian a godwyd hyd yn hyn wedi ein galluogi ni i gefnogi llawer o’n myfyrwyr – ac mae llawer ohonyn nhw sy’n parhau i ddioddef o effaith ariannol negyddol Covid-19.

“Mae’r bwrsariaethau a’r arian ychwanegol wedi fy nghaniatáu i gadw blaendal ar gyfer rhywle i’w rentu gan fy mod i’n symud yn fuan i ddechrau fy ngyrfa newydd. Mae hyn wedi golygu nad oedd rhaid imi bryderu am fod yn ddigartref ar ôl i’r brifysgol ddod i ben, gan fod hyn wedi bod yn bryder ofnadwy o fawr imi.”

Mae eich cefnogaeth chi wedi sicrhau bod darpariaeth y bwrsariaethau ar gyfer myfyrwyr sy’n gadael gofal a’r rheiny sy’n ofalwyr wedi cynyddu ar gyfer 2020/21, ac mae ein Bwrsariaeth ar gyfer Myfyrwyr sydd wedi’u Hymddieithrio yn rhoi cefnogaeth ariannol sydd mawr ei hangen i’r myfyrwyr hynny sydd wedi’u hymddieithrio oddi wrth eu teuluoedd mewn ffordd anadferadwy.

Er ein bod yn cydnabod ac yn gwerthfawrogi y bydd yr argyfwng wedi effeithio ar lawer ohonoch chi, rydyn ni’n gobeithio y byddwch chi’n cefnogi ni os gallwch chi wneud hynny. Os nad ydych chi’n gallu cynnig rhodd, gallwch chi ein helpu ni o hyd drwy rannu’r dudalen hon ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol yn ogystal â’i rhannu â’ch ffrindiau a’ch teulu fel y gallwn ni gyrraedd cynifer o bobl ag sy’n bosibl.

Hoffem ni ddiolch yn fawr iawn i’r holl bobl hynny sydd wedi dangos y fath haelioni wrth gefnogi ein myfyrwyr.

- Rydyn ni’n hynod o ddiolchgar am eich cefnogaeth!
